How to apply to the DPC Mindset Retreat

Every seat at the DPC Mindset Retreat is decided by application. Not first come, not first paid. The application takes about fifteen minutes, and it is how the three days get built for the physicians in the room.

How the application works

  1. Apply online.About fifteen minutes. It asks where your practice actually hurts and what has been keeping your hand on the door. Real questions, and they expect real answers.
  2. Every application is read.Applications are reviewed individually, on a rolling basis. Stage, specialty, and what each physician is carrying all factor into who sits in the room together.
  3. You hear back either way.If it is a fit, you receive the investment details and the next dates. If it is not the right fit or not your year, we say so plainly and point you somewhere better.
  4. Your seat is confirmed on payment.Seats are not transferable, because admission is based on your application rather than the purchase.

Questions physicians ask before applying

Do I need to have already opened a DPC practice?

No. The cohort is mixed on purpose. Physicians who have not opened yet sit beside physicians several years in, and both leave with something they could not have gotten from a room of people at their own stage.

How much does the retreat cost?

Investment details are shared with accepted applicants. There is no early bird pricing. Applying early gets you early access to seats, not a discount.

When and where is the next retreat?

Each retreat's dates and location are set with that cohort's guest physician. Applicants hear them first, before anything is announced publicly.

Who leads the retreat?

Dr. Maryal Concepcion hosts every retreat. Dr. Concepcion is a rural family physician, co-owner of Big Trees MD, founder and host of My DPC Story with more than 300 physician interviews, and chair of the AAFP Direct Primary Care Member Interest Group. Each retreat also brings in a guest DPC physician chosen for what that cohort needs most.

Is this a business course or a conference?

Neither. There is no stage, no slides, no exhibit hall, and no CME. You can find the EMR comparison and the fee schedule anywhere. This retreat is for the reason you have not acted on them yet.

Is this therapy?

No. The retreat is led by physicians, not therapists, and the work stays oriented toward what you are building. Nobody is asked to share more than they choose to.

What happens if my plans change after I pay?

We do not issue refunds. We hold what you paid as a credit toward a future DPC Mindset retreat, so nothing you invested is lost.

What if I am not accepted?

You will hear from us either way. If this is not the right fit, we will tell you honestly and point you toward something that is.
